DEWC Services partners with Soldier On to boost veteran support

C4ISREW Defence specialist DEWC Services has once again demonstrated its steadfast commitment to creating a veteran-friendly workplace by partnering with one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit organisations for veterans, Soldier On.

DEWC Services’ Soldier On Pledge partnership signals their support for veterans by providing meaningful employment pathways and recognising the skills and attributes ex-service personnel bring to the business.

DEWC Services CEO Allan Dundas said the company is building a robust workforce comprising of highly skilled ex-service personnel and is committed to supporting them in their transition to civilian work.

“As an Australian Air Force veteran myself, I am deeply passionate about supporting our veteran community. Veterans bring a wealth of experience, unique skills and a deeply ingrained commitment to serving our nation, which aligns closely with DEWC Services values,” Dundas said.

“DEWC Services is a proud employer of veterans, who currently make up around 29 per cent of our workforce. Many veterans have transitioned into DEWC Services following their career in Defence, while others are reservists who continue to serve while employed.

“As a trusted partner for Defence, it is critical DEWC Services has a comprehensive and deep understanding of Defence’s operating environment, capabilities and requirements – our veterans bring that knowledge and then play a vital role in sharing it with the next generation of C4ISREW specialists entering the company.”

Recognising the immense value veterans bring to the workforce, DEWC Services strives to attract, recruit and retain veterans in a bid to maintain a solid knowledge base and instill career purpose in the workplace.

“By signing the pledge, DEWC Services is not only committing to recruiting veterans, but promising to foster a supportive workplace culture that allows them to expand their skills and engage in meaningful work by building capability for Australia’s Defence Force and mentoring graduates,” Dundas said.

“We believe that having a clear purpose and meaning is what gives our employees passion and fulfilment in their work. Our veterans play an important part in inspiring their colleagues to see that the work they are doing is truly making a difference by helping protect our war fighters so they return home safely to their families.”

This latest commitment builds on DEWC Services’ efforts to strengthen support for the veteran community, which includes initiatives such as Australian Veteran Owned Business certification and ADF Reserves and Employer Support Program membership, as well as policies in place to support veterans who wish to do reserve work.   

Soldier On CEO Amy Cooper said the organisation is delighted to welcome DEWC Services as its newest[LT1]  Pledge partner this year.

Founded in 2012, Soldier On has grown into Australia’s only national, fully integrated support services provider for members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families.

DEWC Services joins veteran-supportive companies on the Solider On Pledge program, which helps veterans and their families find and secure new employment and education pathways, enabling them to thrive.
