DEWC Services takes out Defence Teaming Centre Skilling Award
DEWC Services has celebrated winning the Skilling Award at the Defence Teaming Centre Industry Dinner and Awards Ceremony.
The award recognises an SME that has invested in building the future Defence industry workforce by supporting the growth and development of its employees and proactively addressing the skills shortage in the Defence sector.
DEWC Servies CEO Alan Dundas said the team was proud to be acknowledged for their commitment to upskilling, diversifying and growing expertise in highly technical areas for Defence, including Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISREW).
“We are thrilled to be recognised for our ongoing dedication to nurturing the next generation of professionals and helping grow a specialised Defence industry workforce,” he said.
“Over the past few years, we have made a considerable investment and concerted effort to cultivate future talent and foster the growth of our ISREW workforce through in-house initiatives and training, while also leveraging external programs.”
DEWC Services Chief Technology Officer Vern Collins said the company’s strategic investment in training will help build a sustainable technical workforce for Defence industry and meet the increasing demand for highly skilled technical workers on complex projects.
“We are taking a lead on workforce development and seizing every opportunity to grow our talent pool and identify and address skill gaps and needs, particularly as our company and the industry more broadly looks to scale up to meet capacity and demand” he said.
DEWC Services has invested in developing its workforce, including graduates and professionals from non-defence backgrounds, leveraging our skilled veteran workforce to expand workforce skills and knowledge through mentoring and training, providing a real-time expanded defence workforce.
The company has also established initiatives that focus on diversifying skills and supporting knowledge sharing, such as a mentoring program, an internal research and development program, Healthy Minds wellbeing program and ongoing professional development.
